ROHIT KHILNANI
Bandra has no shortage of buzzing new restaurants, but Scarlett House — the brainchild of restaurateur Dhaval Udeshi and style icon Malaika Arora — stands out in the most refreshing way. Tucked away in Pali village (30 seconds from Pali Naka), a beautifully restored old-world bungalow, this place exudes a nostalgic charm that instantly makes you slow down, breathe, and soak in its warmth. The setting feels more like stepping into a friend’s elegant home than walking into yet another city hotspot. You won't miss it because everyone has seen the beautiful exterior of Scarlet House on Instagram thanks to the paps who click Malaika entering and leaving at least thrice a week.
The vibe alone is enough to win you over, but it’s the food and drinks that seal the deal. The menu has a dedicated section titled “Malla’s Special”, and I couldn’t resist trying a few dishes from it. One after another, each plate surprised me — not just with its presentation but with bold flavours and balance from that special menu. I tried the Paneer Thecha and Caramelised Onion Pasta. Every bite felt better than the last, making it difficult to pick a single favourite. The cocktails, too, carry the same sense of thoughtfulness. The Whiskey Sour blended perfectly with the food.
The highlight of my evening, though, was dessert. The gluten-free chocolate cake deserves its own standing ovation. The sweetness is just right and so is the serving temperature, not too warm but just perfect. It arrives unassumingly, but the moment it touches your tongue, it melts away like silk, leaving behind the kind of rich, decadent satisfaction only truly great chocolate can deliver.
What truly elevates the Scarlett House experience is the staff and their impeccable service. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with warm smiles that instantly made me feel at home. Every order was taken with genuine enthusiasm, making the entire dining experience not just about great food and ambience, but also about genuine hospitality.
Scarlett House is more than just another restaurant opening in Bandra — it feels like a passion project with soul, personality, and a lot of heart. With its old-world bungalow charm, carefully curated menu, and indulgent treats, I can confidently say this is currently the best restaurant in Bandra.
