Uppu: Bandra’s New South Indian Gem You Can’t Miss

31/8/2025

ROHIT KHILNANI

  • Bandra just got a brand-new address for authentic South Indian food, and it’s already creating a buzz — Uppu. The moment I walked in, the aromas of fresh dosa batter and sizzling spices set the mood for what turned out to be a truly satisfying meal.
  • The food is nothing short of delightful. The idli podi is a standout — perfectly spiced, fragrant, and something you’ll want to keep going back to. I tried both the ragi dosa and the rava dosa, and each bite was a reminder of how comforting South Indian food can be when done right. The medu vada, served piping hot and crispy on the outside with a soft center, was simply too good to resist. Of course, everything came with the holy trinity of accompaniments — tomato chutney, coconut chutney, and sambar — each one fresh, flavorful, and the perfect complement.
  • Another highlight was the curd rice, which had just the right balance of taste and texture — cooling, tangy, and incredibly satisfying. For dessert, the Mysore Pak was soft, rich, and just melted in the mouth, ending the meal on a sweet high.
  • But what sets Uppu apart from the usual South Indian spots is an unexpected twist — they serve tap beer. I tried the German brew on tap, and it was excellent — chilled to the right temperature and full of flavor, making it the perfect companion to the meal.
  • Whether you’re craving dosas, vadas, or just a unique dining experience, Uppu is the place to get your South Indian fill in Bandra.

Perfect Brunch / Lunch Place. Definitely worth the Money.

  • Dosas, Uttappas, Upma, Medu Vada, Curd Rice and Podi Idli are @ Rs 225
  • 2 Pieces of Mysore Pak is @ Rs 180
  • Moong Dal Payasam and Pal Payasam are @ Rs 225

If you’re craving hot, tasty South Indian food and don’t want the hassle of long queues, Uppu in Bandra is definitely the place to try. Comfort, flavor, and convenience — all served on one plate.
